Kwentong Miko and General Nonsense

Istorya

Ito ang isa sa mga pelikula kung saan ang main/central character ay ang kalaban (parang Hanibal series). Ang Death Note ay isang notebook na pag sinulatan mo ng pangalan ng tao, matitigok ang taong yun. Hindi nabebenta sa bangketa ang notebook at nalaglag lang mula sa langit at napasakamay ni Light Yagami. Si Light Yagami ay isang estudyante na naging vigilante. Lahat ng makita nyang criminal sa tv, inuutas nya gamit ang Deathnote.

Naalarma ang buong mundo dahil trigger-happy tong si Light at naging power-tripper lalo na ng dumami ang fans. Nagpakabayani naman ang 3rd greatest detective in the world, codename L (sya rin daw ung 1st and 2nd greatest detective, na nagpapanggap din gamit ang ibang pangalan). Naging resulta tuloy, labanan ng dalawang teen-agers na nag-uumapaw sa katalinuhan at parehas na ayaw magpatalo dahil ang matalo, tigbak.

Kasama ang dalawang shinigami/kamatayan (isang kengkoy na adik sa mansanas at isang babaeng mukang lalakeng nabugbog at nabendahan), ang tatay ni Light na head ng police, isang pop idol na fan ni Light, lupon ng mga detectives, at sari-saring extra na may one-liner scripts… masaya, magulo, nakakagulat, nakakamangha ang “horror” story na to.

Mikomento

Ang Death Note ay hango sa anime/manga series, pero hindi tulad ng mga superheroes na kayang magpasabog ng planeta. At kung ang hanap ng manonood ay cool kid na may kinokontrol na shinigami laban sa ibang evil kid na may shinigami din, madi-disappoint lang sila at mabuting manood na lang ng iba, gaya ng Shaman King.

Kahit nasa category ng horror, kokonti ang dugo at labas na atay sa pelikulang to. Ang mga isinusulat sa death note ay namamatay sa heart attack (I know, boring). Hindi rin to ang regular na Japanese horror kung saan may babaeng banned sa barbershop kaya nag-e-mote na lang sa loob ng balon o batang lalaking nasobrahan sa eyeliner.

Maraming morally stimulating questions ang inilalabas ng pelikula tulad kung tamang patayin ang criminal na laging nakakalusot sa pulis at husgado. Ipinapakita rin dito ang tendency of power to corrupt, na kung kaya mong gawin, bakit hindi?

Maganda naman ang computer graphics. Respectable ang acting ng mga gumanap lalo na’t original ang mga characters. Nakakapagod nga lang panoodin dahil walang dubbing at magtyatyaga ka sa subtitles.

All in all, Death Note is one of my fave movies on this second half of 2007.

I visited Davao for a 3-day business trip.
Waterfron Hotel is quite far from the city, so if your looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it.

Breakfast and Dinner was nice. The 3-man musikeros are pleasing to the ears while you savor fresh seafoods like tuna and other specialties of Davao. Of course that include fruits.

The place was scenic, appropriate to hold events such as wedding (like my boss did ten years ago).

Cons: the beach now is not conducive for swimming. you have to settle yourself in the pool.

i was waiting for a jeep when this song was played in a restaurant near me. then, boom! i can relate. for a couple of days now i'm dreaming to be with that person. sigh.
